The client was interested in creating a home that reflected his English heritage yet still fit within the context of Seaside's residential neighborhood. The splendid corner lot gave the home a unique presence within the urban sequence through Seaside and its neighboring community. The stair tower on the corner establishes a formal urban marker within the public realm, while providing the primary circulation and gulf views for the home.
The use of wood shingle siding and brick chimney reflects the arts & craft traditions. The three story porch on the front allows more maximum viewable space towards the gulf and provides a transition between public and private realm, typical of Seaside homes.
The interiors are organized to maximize the feeling of openness connectivity and simplicity. Wide plan floors provide a beautiful sense of scale and proportion as well as a finish perfectly suited for maximum comfort and durability. All built-ins are painted and the wood walls and wainscotting are in keeping with the house by the sea.
